Applied Spirit Science

We can read, study, and discuss the books of Kardec and books by other Spiritist authors until we have every word memorized, but are we applying this knowledge to change our inner selves?

If we are learning and using what we are reading, then each of us must do no wrong and, do as much good as we are able, each according to our capabilities. The aim of learning about the Spiritist Doctrine is moral self-improvement: in thought, word, and deed. This means we must act and change; we must apply what we learn. We may be able to fool those around us but we cannot fool God or our spirit guides regarding our intentions in these areas. As Spiritists, we cannot plead ignorance of spiritual laws upon our return to the spirit world.

Over 145 years ago, when Kardec was observing the phenomena of mediumship, and so-called psychic phenomena, it was very new and many people in the world had no idea regarding its most basic of spiritual concepts. Superstition abounded! Now, most people logically believe: that we each have a soul; in the existence of a spirit world; in the faculty of mediumship; and that the inhabitants in the material world can make contact with the inhabitants in the spirit world. What they DO NOT necessarily know about is the complex philosophical, psychological, moral, scientific, and religious ramifications behind these phenomena. And, they may not know about them unless we do our part to teach them; but not only through reading and study of the Doctrine, it will be more importantly taught through the application of its principles. We must not only instruct people’s minds but we must also touch their hearts!

Kardec came to earth for the mission of scientifically studying and codifying what can be called the basic knowledge of these
natural spiritual laws. It is our mission now to apply them as best we can and instruct others in this application. We are all imperfect but, if our intentions are sincere and serious, we will be rewarded. Will we make mistakes? Of course, because we are mere mortals! But, to wait until the relative perfection of the human race to apply spiritual laws we already know about is ludicrous. We must have confidence in ourselves and in our spirit guides and above all, faith in the Creator.

How do we apply spirit science?

We, on an individual level, try to improve in our own conduct and de-materialize ourselves as much as possible because this helps to transform and evolve our souls.

If we
are mediums: we study, properly orientate ourselves, and use our faculty to help ourselves first, then others.

If we feel capable, we open Spiritist Centers to conduct study groups, healing sessions, and spirit communication sessions. We need to apply that knowledge we have, to assist and instruct all those in need of learning about “the whys and wherefores of Life.” We do not have to have college degrees or study Spiritism for many, many years in order to accomplish these activities; having basic Spiritist knowledge with sincere and serious intentions is a start… and through practical experience, and with the assistance of one’s spirit guides, one learns much by doing.

The spirit session itself is the most dynamic tool in which Spiritists can apply spirit science. The spiritual dynamics between director, mediums, and attendees working in total harmony (with their counterparts in the spirit world) can touch the hearts and souls of all involved. One short moment, wherein a person can speak to a dear loved who has disincarnated (through a medium’s faculties) who they thought lost, can provide more spiritual sustenance, inner solace, and proof of the afterlife than that person reading ten chapters from The Spirits Book. Forever, that person’s life has been changed, for their very soul has been touched! Through the spirit session, spirits communicating through mediums bring: spiritual consolation, magnetic healing, spiritual guidance, tremendous inspiration, and provide to those who need it, proof of the afterlife and proof that death is only a change of residence. There can also be assistance given to those disorientated in the spirit world from us here in the material world. The spirit session provides to all of us a small view in a window into the spirit world where each of us have come from and (by studying the various types of spirit communications received) we learn of the different possible types of conditions which may await us upon our eventual return to that world. How intriguing, interesting, and beautiful! I have been a medium for over 22 years and have co-run a Spiritist Center for over 23 years and I learn something new at each spirit session. I have experienced and seen such wonderful reactions and experiences by persons in attendance, myself in my own Center, as well as in others I have visited.

It is so sad to be contacted by so many people who have the faculty of mediumship but have no where to practice it; by those with spiritual problems with no where to go; and by those who need consolation in knowing that their loved ones still exist and cannot relieve their grief; and by those who are terrified of death.

I can only speak about what is happening in the
United States and I see many groups emerging wherein people seek communication with the spirit world. People watch  popular mediums on TV, go to their seminars, and make arrangements for private sittings with them at exorbitant fees; there are The Conversation with God groups (based on the popular books); there are many “development circles” being established through the avenues of Buddhism, American Indian lore, Wicca and pagan rites and rituals; there are the Spiritualist churches; The Science of the Mind groups; The Course in Miracles groups; and many, many other groups, some with quite a mixture of different beliefs. All are searching for spiritual truths by applying the laws of spirit science the only way they know, for the physical sciences have not answered their questions about the purpose of life and have left their soul feeling cold.

The time is here and now, more than ever before, as it was said in the Bible:

“And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of My Spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams: And on my servants and on my handmaidens I will pour out in those days of My Spirit; and they shall prophesy.” (Acts, 2: 17 & 18)

SPIRIT MESSAGES

(message received on July 9, 1965 in New York City, USA, reproduced from the Chapter 42 of the book Entre Irmãos de Outras Terras / Among Brothers of Other Lands. Rio de Janeiro: FEB, 1994)

Tremendous surprise takes place in our mind at the moment of death. Contrary to our former opinions we are alive. The body came back to the inorganic kingdom as subject of universal change and we recognize that death is a rebirth. Dissolution occurs in the form, but the soul is the same. The spirit rises from the deserted brain and thus becomes a new being. During this transformation physical sensation would call us back; while this is happening the conscience awakes. Then we must run through our accounts, Many times we have run up a lot of debts which need to be paid. We do not always account for our mistakes, but karmic law knows everything about it and these debts are carried forward to balance our next existence; because of this, we shall return, by means of a new birth.
Generally we are born again among those who are our own enemies of past lives, in order to face them and overcome old offenses. Sometimes, they reappear in a home under different forms and they are called father or mother, husband or wife, friends or neighbors.

The possibility of reequilibrium is restored. Love’s practice opens the door to understanding.

If mistakes were made yesterday, we need to correct them today.

Reincarnation brings enlightment about the dislikes and the sudden hostilities in family circles that apparently have no sense. For this reason, we have in our earthly home a school of self-redemption in which suffering accomplishes its fulfillment.

Obstacles in a family may be the way where love guides to a better living, for patience gives strength.

Not only discipline in a family is essential but a home demands that you become unselfish and have consideration for others. These things cannot be accomplished by promises and displays. This achievement is realized in the silence of the soul in its desire to assure happiness to its own relatives.

Be mindful of charity in your own house. Make use of the advantages of the passing moment. Almost always you will find yourself in a family to work out self-purification. Do not retard it. You will have to give account of your life. The opportunity is at hand. Try to love and to forgive in the home more and more; if you are doing this, you will be able to say, I won.

Would You Choose a Difficult Life or an Easier One?

Received inspirationally by Yvonne Limoges

While in the spirit world, before we incarnate into our next material life (depending on our moral, spiritual, and intellectual level) we have certain choices as to what types of trials and tribulations we will accept. Would you choose an easy life, or a more difficult one? Would you choose one that you could sail through with ease and only advance a little, or, select one fraught with great difficulties to surmount, wherein you could expiate and pay back many debts you had incurred from past lives, and advance more swiftly along your soul’s progression upward?

Your superior spirit guides would advise you that you have the ability to accomplish and can succeed in the more difficult choice, but it would take much effort and perseverance on your part. Yet there is always the chance, due to freewill, you may not fully complete it, nor even succeed at all, in the tasks set before you if you become despondent or do not put forth your full efforts for one reason or another. You would have to have much inner strength, fortitude, and faith, if you were to come out victorious from that difficult life filled with much sorrow, suffering, and trial.

In the spirit world our perspectives are different then when we are in the material world. We choose many difficulties we might not think about while contemplating it from within this harsh material world. Those who would wish to advance more swiftly by expiating much sorrow and wrongdoing they have caused to others in their past lives, and, those who would want to make amends to make up for their past life evil deeds, would choose the more demanding and difficult life requiring more effort from us.

If your life is full of great heartache and sorrow, if you suffer much, you may have chosen that life’s harder path. It is the perfect set of circumstances for you to advance. But, you can support it; you can succeed. Remember material life is transitory. Your soul lives longer periods in the spirit world then in these lowly material worlds.

In addition, you are never alone in your efforts to support trials and tribulations because your spirit guides are right there beside you. Call on them to ease your burdens with their morally superior and spiritually tranquil fluids that will envelope you, filling you with an inner peace to support whatever pain, sorrow, or suffering that may come your way. They will not take away the pain and difficult tasks before you, but they can bring spiritual solace and strength to fortify your soul in supporting them. They can inspire in you, faith and hope for the future, where your soul will receive the full fruits of all your hard labors.

What relief and what glory if one succeeds in fulfilling all our allotted tasks; to have paid back so much debt and advanced so much more within that lifetime of sorrow, then to have chosen the easier path. By choosing the more difficult life, we will have reduced the number of lifetimes we must succumb ourselves to, and we will arrive at our goal as a purified spirit much quicker. Oh yes, how glorious it is, when one is the victor!

A note from the Translator and Editor

We humbly present the first English translation from the original Spanish of the Memoirs of Father Germain copied and annotated by the famous Spanish SpiritistAmalia Domingo Soler. Our product may not be perfect but God knows our labors were honest and sincere as we share this beautiful book with the English-speaking world.

Although the book is not about Spiritism per se, we feel that the book is very valuable in reflecting the human side of the Spiritist belief because this humble Catholic priest, who was also a medium, was an excellent example of a person with fervent faith in the Creator. In addition, he had tremendous compassion and a true sense of justice. His religious beliefs, which included belief in past lives, went beyond orthodoxy to the universal religion of Love.

As Ms. Soler states in her Introduction, we also believe that most people will be spiritually inspired and moved by the account of the life of Father Germain.

Introduction

On the twenty-ninth of April in 1880, I commenced publishing in the Spiritist newspaper, La Luz del Porvenir [The Light of the Future], the Memoirs of Father Germain.  These were a large series of  communications, which by their delivery and form (resembling a  novel), were delightfully instructive. The spirit of Father Germain narrated certain episodes of his last existence, in which he had consecrated his life to consoling the humble and the oppressed, while at the same time unmasking the hypocrisy and falseness of the officials of the Roman [Catholic] Church.  This latter activity brought upon him comparable unpleasantness (which was natural), unrelenting persecution, cruel insults, and death threats, which more than once came very near to becoming a tragic reality. He was the victim of his hierarchical superiors and was exiled to live in a small village although undoubtedly, by virtue of his goodness and special talents, he could have guided the boat of Saint Peter to a safe port without foundering. But in spite of the fact that he lived in obscurity in a remote part of the world, like the hidden violets among the leaves which exhale their delicate perfume, his righteous soul also exhaled the delicate aroma of his religious sentiments, the fragrance so strong that it permeated a great part of the land which caused many of the nobility, terrorized by the remembrance of their monstrous crimes, to hurry and prostrate themselves humbly before the poor priest to be rescued, and asked him to serve as an intermediary between them and God.

Father Germain gathered many lost sheep, guiding them in a solicitous manner, through the narrow path of the true religion, which preaches nothing else than to do good for its own sake; loving the good, for their exceptional virtues who merit a tender love, and, loving the delinquent, because he is a sick soul in a grave state who can only be cured with love.

The mission of Father Germain in his last existence was the most beautiful mission a man  could have on this earth, and since when the spirit leaves its carnal envelope, he continues feeling in space what he felt here on earth, he felt the need to liberate his enemies with the necessity of love and to instruct his fellow man, so he looked for the means of following his noble sentiments.

Waiting for a propitious moment, there arrived the opportunity when he found a purely mechanical speaking medium [an unconscious medium- who remained anonymous] to whom he had a deep affection for many centuries, but this was not enough, that medium needed a secretary, who felt, who understood, and who appreciated what the medium related, and this secretary was found in my good will, in my vehement desire to propagate Spiritism, and the three of us worked together on his Memoirs till  January 10, 1884.

His memoirs are not in a perfect order in relation to the events of his life. He no sooner relates something from his youth (very dramatically) than  laments the abandonment he felt when he was an elder. But in everything that he says there is much sentiment, spirituality, and so much love for God; a profound admiration for His eternal laws, an immense admiration for Nature,
that when reading even fragments of his memoirs a troubled soul will be consoled, the most skeptical spirit will reflect, the most criminal person will be moved,  and all in their own way will look for God convinced that He exists in the immensity of the heavens.

One of the founders of, La Luz del Porvenir, a Spiritist printer Mr. Juan Torrents,  has been good enough to put together into one book these Memoirs of Father Germain, to which I've added a few other communications from the same spirit because I found in his pages immense treasures of love and hope, love and hope which are the ripe fruit of the true spirituality of which Father Germain had with him for many centuries, because to feel like he feels, and to love as he loves, and to know so deeply the misery of humanity, he has had to have struggled with the  impulsiveness of the passions, and with the pitfalls of the vices, and with the irresistible flatteries of mundane vanity. Great and deep-rooted virtues, and, the manifold facts of the scientists cannot be improvised, they are the patient tasks of centuries.

May these lines serve as a humble introduction to the Memoirs of Father Germain, and  may the Memoirs be like leaves which hide bunches of violets which carry their delicate perfumes, breathing in the thirst of justice and the hunger of love and peace.

Chapter 1 - Remorse

With great sacrifice and blessed pleasure, I celebrated my first sacrifice of the mass! I was born for a religious life, harmonious and contemplative.

How pleasing it was for me to teach the faith to the little children! How delightful it was for me to hear their little voices, some out of tune, others shrieking, some so soft, but all so pleasing to me because they were as pure as their innocent souls.

Oh, the evenings! The evenings in my little village will always live in my memory! What tender and poetic moments they were for me, the times when upon leaving my beloved breviary, accompanied by my faithful dog Sultan, I went to the cemetery to pray before the cross of stone for the souls of the faithful that slept around me.

The children followed me at a distance and used to wait for me by the door of the house of the dead. When I finished my prayers I left that mansion of truth and remembering the divine words of Jesus, I said, "Come to me, little children." Immediately they surrounded me, all of them yelling, and playing, encircling me affectionately and asking me to tell them stories; sitting by an old and venerable olive tree, with Sultan at my feet, the children played with his ears while my faithful companion suffered with resignation, their juvenile display of affection.

Letting them do what they wanted, I was very happy to be surrounded by those innocent creatures, who looked at me with genuine admiration. They said to each other; “ Let's play dead with Sultan, Father will not admonish us.” My poor dog let them drag him by his tail, while playing dead. When they finished playing, as a treat, they gave him part of the food they had with them.  After a while order was again established, everything became calm, and then they sat around me, listening attentively, to the many stories of miracles I told them.

Sultan was the first to signal when it was time to go back to the village, by standing and barking, getting the attention of the children. Then, with much dancing and jumping, we all returned to our quiet homes. This is the way I passed many days, many months of peace and love, ignoring that there were criminals in the world. After a while, Father John died and I inherited his parish, with it came new obligations which disturbed the dreams of my nights and the tranquility of my days.

It had always bothered me, without knowing why, to hear the sins of others in confession.  I found that it was too heavy a load to guard the secrets of others. My soul being openhearted and reflective, was tormented by the weight of the sins of others.  But, Father John's demise, obliged me to sit in the tribunal of penance, or better said, "The tribunal of human conscience." Then life horrified me. How many sad stories! How many disenchantments! How many crimes! How many iniquities!

One night, one which I'll never forget, while preparing to go to sleep, all of a sudden Sultan anxiously got up, looking at me intently, he got up on the arms of my chair and looked at me, as if saying, “Do not go to bed, someone is coming.” About five minutes later, I heard the sound of the hoofs of a horse at a gallop. A few moments later, my old companion Miguel, the caretaker, came to me saying that a man wanted to speak to me.

I went outside with Sultan who smelled the man and then sat down defensively by my feet. It seems like I still see my visitor. He was a man of medium age, with a sad and somber look.  He looked at me and said, “Father, are we alone?”

“Yes, what do you want?”, I asked.

“I want you to hear my confession, Father.”

“Why do you come looking for me, when you have God ?”,  I asked.

“God is too far away and I need to hear a voice that is closer”, he said.

“Does not your conscience tell you something?”, I then asked.

“It is because I listen to it, that I come to you. I see they have not lied when they said that you are an enemy of confession”, the man said.

“It is true, the horrors of people’s lives I find oppressive. I only like to hear the confessions of children because their sins make the angels smile.”

“Father, listen to me, because it's charitable to give advice to those that ask for it.”

“Talk,” I said, “And may God inspire both of us.”

“Pay close attention,” he said. ”A few months ago among the tombs of the cemetery in the city of............,  they found the body of a man with his skull crushed.  They tried to find the assassin, but it had been in vain. Until finally, a man showed up at the tribunal of justice [police headquarters] and declared that he was the one who had killed the man found dead at the cemetery. I’m the judge for this case, the law condemns him to execution since he confessed, and I cannot condemn him.”

“Why?”, I asked.

“Because he is innocent.”

“How, if he is confessing?”

“Because I swear to you that he is not the murderer.”

“How can you state that?”

“Because the slayer of that man was me.”

“You?”

“Yes, Father, me. It’s a long story and very sad. The only thing that I will tell you is that I took vengeance into my own hands and on my secret lies the honor of my children. But, my conscience will not let me sign the death sentence for a man who I know he is not guilty.”

“Is the confessor suffering from some mental disorder?”, I asked.

“No, he's perfectly sane. I tried to declare him insane, but medical science proved otherwise.”

“Then do not feel remorse because regret of another crime has likely made him confess to this one. No one gives his life to justice, without having been an assassin himself. Go peacefully, and fulfill human justice because the remorse of that poor individual has made him see, that Divine law has to be fulfilled. I promise that I'll talk with that poor person, and, to make you feel better, I'll divulge to you what he tells me. Regarding yourself, do not forget the Fifth Commandment of the Law of God, ‘Thou shall not kill’", I said.

My presentiments were not wrong. A few days later, I talked with the prisoner in his last moments. I said to him, “Speak, God is listening.”

Then, full of tears he told me the following, “Father, how sad is the life of a criminal. It has been ten years since I killed a poor young woman, and her shadow has always followed me.  I still see her, here between us both! I got married to see if by being with someone, and not alone, I would lose that horror which was slowly killing me. But, whenever I went to caress my wife, the sight of that woman would come between us, her face blurring the face of my wife. When we had our first child, it was not my wife holding the baby, but she who held him.  I traveled, I plunged into all manner of vices, and have spent days and days in church. But, wherever I went there she was, even in church, where her face took the faces of the saints, always her. I do not know why I've not had the courage to kill myself? So, when I heard that they had not found out who had killed that man at the cemetery, I gave thanks to God, so that I could say that I had killed him and take the blame. This way I could die, by accusing myself of that crime.”

“Why have you not confessed your crime before this?”

“Because there was not enough proof that was convincing. I had covered up the murder in such a way that, there were no clues left.  But men do not see what I see! She is here, and she looks at me with anger.  Do you not see her, Father?  I wish to die so that I will not see her!”

On the day of the execution, on stepping up to the gallows, the prisoner told me, “In place of the hangman, I see her. Father, ask God that I will not see her after death, if it is true that the dead see into eternity.” Then they hanged him.

To allay the fears of the murdering judge I told him what that other Cain had said  [the condemned man]. When I finished, he sadly said, “Father, of what worth is human justice compared to Divine Justice?  The death of that man is avenged before society and he will rest in eternity, but me? Father, when will I rest?”

A year later, the judge entered an insane asylum, never to come out again. And I, who have been made the depository of so many secrets, the unwilling judge of the morals of so many criminals, and the confidante of so many inequities,  live depressed by the weight of human frailties.

Oh, where are the quiet afternoons of my parish? No longer do my prayers resound at the feet of the cross of stone. Where are those children that played with Sultan?  One had died, the others are now full grown, now all men. Perhaps some may be criminals. They say that I'm so good, which I am not. And many sinners come to tell me their misfortunes and I have come to realize that remorse is the only hell of mankind.

Dear God, inspire me! Guide me towards the path of goodness, and since I get despondent over hearing the sins of others, may I not lose my sense of reason, by always remembering those sins of my own. Because, where in this world would you find a person without regrets?

A MESSAGE & COMMENTS

Hi there,

I "discovered" The Spirits' Book three years ago when I downloaded the old English version from the Spiritist Federation web site, four months before traveling to Brazil to experience "John of God" in Abadiania.  I devoured the book even though it isn't too user friendly and while in Brazilia was able to visit the Federation and purchase a copy of it and The Mediums' Book.  I have now read The Spirits' Book three  and 1/2 times and am very grateful for the wonderful, new English translation, from The Allan Kardec Educational Society in Pennsylvania: http://www.allan-kardec.org/

Before finding The Spirits' Book I had read Conversations With God.   I attended a discussion group once a week until the host cancelled.  I think Neal Walsh has done an excellent job helping us become more spiritual.  The book is easy to read and fills a need - a huge need.

For the last two and 1/2 years I have facilitated a small Spiritist study group in Corvallis, OR.  We met every Wednesday for two & 1/2 years until I had to stop the group due to family concerns in Oklahoma, where I am now.  The main reason I facilitated a Spiritist group and not a Conversations With God group is that The Spirits' Book was not channeled by Allan Kardec, as CWG was by Walsh, it was codified by Kardec only after he had approached the spirit communication phenomena in a skeptical, analytical, scientific method.  The man was a highly educated, successful, scientist, linguist, and mathematician, and had no motive other than to prove, or disprove, the spirit connection that was occurring around the world.  It wasn't until his investigations were well known that he was able to organize a communication with groups in France, England, and the USA to have the same questions asked, the answers written, and mailed to him so he could, again, scrutinize the results.

The Good Spirits' clearly state in The Spirits' Book, that they don't know everything; that God reveals truths when the time is right.  For me, I have gotten so much from the study of The Spirits' Book, but one of the main points I have learned is discernment.  The Spirits' Book is the foundation upon which I judge all information coming to me.  During the past two years my little group also read "The Unquiet Dead",  "Table Tipping" by Angela Mattey, and "The Afterlife Experiments" by Gary Schwartz.  And, I have just finished an old book "Journeys Out Of The
Body" by Robert Monroe, and "Many Lives, Many Masters" by Brian Weise.  All of these books have truths.  While reading each one I found myself thinking how much easier their lives would be, if they'd only read The
Spirits' Book first.

I love Jay's enthusiasm.  You can feel his energy jump right off the page.  It is the feeling I got when I realized that life does, indeed, go on.  It's like "Wow, what a relief! I'm not going to spend eternity burning in Hell!"

It is really important to make it clear to all that Spiritism is NOT a religion and you can be a "Spiritist" and still go to CWG meetings, facilitate groups, etc.  The Spirits' Book is a reference book.  It explains that you don't NEED a priest to talk with God, but it's okay if you want one.  You don't NEED a ritual of lighting candles, doing Yoga, saying the rosaries, facing Mecca five times a day, but if it works for you do it.  They tell us whatever works for  you is right for you at this moment in time.  It is the information that provides the proof that we are all brothers and sisters.  We are all part of an interdependent web of existence.  Today I am a Christian Spiritist (my own  definition), the next life I may be a Hindu Spiritist, or a Jewish Spiritist, but always a Spiritist.

They tell us we will incarnate until we don't need labels anymore or have a need to be right.  Humility, love of our neighbor, and doing unto others as we would have them do unto us.  They tell us to know ourselves, know our motives, then, and only then, can we be sure of whom we are communicating with in the spirit world, as like attracts like.  One of the reasons the Good Spirits tell us 'what you get from God for free, you give for free' helps you with discernment, i.e., what's in it for the channel/medium/psychic?  Does that mean that all gifted persons have an ulterior motive?  No.  They just tell us to know the facts and make up your own mind as to what is right.  They tell us a channel/medium/psychic is nothing more than a conduit, a telephone link.  They are not special, should not be revered, and it is up to each individual to use discernment as to which information is coming from the highest source in the universe.

Janice Imel

Dear Janice,

Your message is so comforting and made all of us at GEAE - Advanced Study Group of Spiritism very happy, for it shows us that the teachings of Spiritism is making a great difference in your life. You were absolutely right in your approach to the role of Allank Kardec's work on the Codification as well as to the meaning of the teachings that the Superior Spirits conveyed to humankind. They know very well about our struggles and our intentions and are always by our side trying to help us, but they will never infringe the limits of our FREE WILL.

Keep up the hard work and strive to enlighten yourself and help your brothers and sisters in your way, for this is the right path that will take us to happiness, no matter what creed we turn to. I recommend that you study all the works of the codification, for this will give you a solid base of knowledge in regard to the matters of the role we are supposed to play while here in the Planet Earth and in the afterlife.

You will find all the works of the Codification available at our homepage and also some other important books on Spiritism. The home page of the Spiritist Group of New York is also another good site to check.

Feel free to contact me and if I there is anything that I can be of help with, I will be glad to do so.

Fraternally,

Antonio Leite

Dear Janice,

You are absolutely right about all these labels.... and about mediums only being an instrument etc.. Each person must decide for themselves what it is the medium is saying, that is the most important thing, not who they are.

I totally agree, as far as practices, what works for someone and makes them feel good about God and themselves, spiritually, is fine. Everyone is at a different level and everyone comes from different cultures, religious backgrounds, etc.

We practive how we do things at our Center and some people accept it and some do not. Some come but still do their own thing at home. If a person comes to our Center says they do something at home that is a ritual (like incense, like you said, etc.) we are not going to say this is a bad thing. That would not be compassionate. At least they are thinking of God and spirituality and prayer.

Good Letter and God Bless,

Yvonne
